Froggy Friends
I completed my year-long internship in a 2nd grade classroom at Red Cedar Elementary School in East Lansing, Michigan. Red Cedar, which is adjacent to the Michigan State University campus, is an extremely diverse school that is made up of children representing 50 countries and speaking 37 languages other than English. Our classroom was similarly diverse: 21 students represented 9 countries other than the United States. However, even though our students came from such different backgrounds, my year with Mrs. Berry and the "frogs" was a perfect example of how so many different people can come together and flourish in such a positive environment.
